01Who we are

Maison Jersey is a small, sole-trader apothecary in the Hawkesbury, New South Wales. This page explains, in plain words, what personal information we collect and what we do with it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. Questions go to hello@maisonjersey.com.au.

02What we collect

• Your name, email address and delivery address — when you place an order.
• Your order history and any messages you send us.
• Your email address alone — if you join the curing list.
• Basic technical information (device, pages visited) that keeps the shop working and tells us, in aggregate, how the site is used.

We never see or store your card details — payments are handled entirely by Shopify Payments, which is built for exactly that.

03What we use it for

• Making, packing and delivering your order, and writing to you about it.
• Answering your messages.
• The curing list — one email when a batch is ready, and the occasional letter from the farm. Never more than occasional.
• Meeting legal obligations, such as keeping tax records.

That is the whole list. We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone.

04Emails and consent

You only receive marketing emails if you asked for them — by joining the curing list or ticking the box at checkout. Every email has an unsubscribe link that works with one click, as the Spam Act 2003 requires. Order emails (confirmations, tracking) are sent regardless, because they are part of delivering what you bought.

05Who we share it with

• Shopify — runs the shop, the checkout and payments.
• Australia Post — receives your name and address to deliver your parcel.
• Our email service — holds the curing list and sends our letters.

Each of these providers handles your information under their own privacy safeguards, and only for the job described. Some, like Shopify, may store data on servers outside Australia. Beyond this list, we disclose personal information only if the law requires it.

06Cookies

The shop uses the small set of cookies it needs to function — keeping your cart together, remembering your region — plus simple analytics that count visits without identifying you personally. You can block or clear cookies in your browser; the cart may stop holding items if you block them all.

07Keeping it safe, keeping it briefly

Your information lives in the systems above, protected by their security and by ours: access is limited to the people who pack your order — which is to say, one person. We keep order records as long as Australian tax and consumer law require, and curing-list emails until you unsubscribe.

08Your choices

• Ask what we hold about you — we will show you.
• Ask us to correct it — we will fix it.
• Ask us to delete it — we will, except records the law says we must keep.
• Unsubscribe — the link is in every email.

09Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your information, tell us first — we will look into it and reply properly. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can raise it with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

10Changes to this page

If this policy changes, the new version appears here with a new date at the top. We will not quietly change what we do with your information.
